Two Stories of Big Bad Breakfast

In the heart of Homewood, Big Bad Breakfast brings Your Southern Scratch Diner to one of Birmingham’s most beloved neighborhoods, serving breakfast, brunch and lunch seven days a week across two floors of BBB personality. Our menu was created by James Beard Award-winning and Michelin-recommended Chef John Currence, with the same care and attention usually reserved for dinner brought straight to the breakfast table.

Our kitchen starts with the real stuff: real eggs cracked fresh, scratch-made biscuits, gravies, jams, salad dressings, hollandaise and other sauces, house-made Bloody Mary mix and our own JC’s Hot Sauce. Even our chicken is hand-battered in-house. We bring local flavor to the table with local honey, locally sourced McEwen & Sons grits, and fresh produce whenever possible. Looking for something lighter? Avocado toast, steel-cut oatmeal, house-made granola and yogurt, egg-white omelets, wraps and salads give you plenty of options. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available; let us know your dietary needs and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Lunch is just as Big Bad, with burgers, sandwiches and a juicy fried chicken sandwich. Fresh-squeezed orange juice is made daily for a bright start to the morning. Our full-service breakfast and lunch catering is perfect for teacher appreciation meals, athletic teams, colleges, PTO meetings, corporate events, showers, wedding mornings and more.

Reservations are not accepted. For larger groups, feel free to call ahead, and where available, guests may also join the Yelp Waitlist before arriving.
