Capital City Breakfast, Cloverdale Style

In Montgomery’s historic Old Cloverdale neighborhood, Big Bad Breakfast serves Alabama’s capital as Your Southern Scratch Diner seven days a week. Breakfast, brunch and lunch begin with genuine Southern hospitality and a menu created by James Beard Award-winning and Michelin-recommended Chef John Currence.

We crack real eggs and make biscuits, gravies, jams, salad dressings, hollandaise, sauces, Bloody Mary mix and JC’s Hot Sauce from scratch, plus hand-batter our chicken in-house. Local honey, locally sourced Grit Girl Grits and fresh produce whenever possible keep Alabama represented on the table. There’s room for every kind of morning, from hearty BBB plates to avocado toast, steel-cut oatmeal, house-made granola and yogurt, egg-white omelets, wraps and salads. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available; tell us your dietary needs and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Lunch keeps the griddle busy with burgers, sandwiches and our fried chicken sandwich. Fresh-squeezed orange juice is made daily, while lattes, cappuccinos and espresso shots provide a little Capital City wake-up call. Enjoy our pet-friendly patio. Full-service breakfast and lunch catering is available for teacher appreciation meals, athletic teams, college events, PTO meetings, showers, wedding mornings, corporate gatherings and meetings.
