Big Bad Is Coming to Cooper-Young

Big Bad Breakfast is bringing Your Southern Scratch Diner to historic Cooper-Young as our 29th location. In a neighborhood known for art, creativity, independent businesses and unmistakable Memphis personality, we’re excited to become part of the community with a menu created by James Beard Award-winning and Michelin-recommended Chef John Currence. Once open, guests can expect breakfast, brunch and lunch seven days a week, genuine Southern hospitality and our signature scratch-made approach.

We crack real eggs, hand-batter our chicken and make biscuits, gravies, jams, salad dressings, hollandaise, sauces, Bloody Mary mix and JC’s Hot Sauce from scratch, while using local honey, locally sourced Grit Girl Grits and fresh produce whenever possible. The menu balances hearty favorites with avocado toast, steel-cut oatmeal, house-made granola and yogurt, egg-white omelets, wraps and salads, plus burgers and sandwiches at lunch. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will also be available; guests can let us know their dietary needs and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Fresh-squeezed orange juice will be made daily, with lattes, cappuccinos and espresso shots ready to wake up Cooper-Young.

Full-service breakfast and lunch catering will be available for teacher appreciation, athletic teams, colleges, PTO meetings, showers, wedding mornings, corporate events and meetings.

Reservations will not be accepted. For larger groups, guests may call ahead, and where available, join the Yelp Waitlist before arriving.
